Single-Family Offices (SFOs) manage wealth of a single-family or individual. Multi-family offices (MFOs) are designed to provide similar services to their SFO counterparts but to a number of wealthy families. According to FINRX, there are approximately 3,500-5,000 family offices throughout the world. In 2020, FINTRX estimates 39% are SFOs and 61% are MFOs. There are an estimated 1,200 SFOs in the US. Assets under management (AUM) range from under $100MM to $5Bn+.
